THE VIRTUES ON PARADE

Brief talks on the principal theological and moral virtues are here presented in accordance with the doctrine of St. Thomas Aquinas, but with a style and an application geared to modern men and their problems. The captions of each talk, which are generally of a pragmatic or humorous character, should not mislead one into thinking that the virtues of the Christian life are here being discussed in a cheap way that in effect subordinates religion and morality to practical aims. At the same time, this is not a profound treatise on the virtues, but a practical, direct, simple and clear series of talks, straight from the shoulder, and aimed at making the reader realize the difference between mediocrity and true Christian virtue on the one hand and the dangers of sinning by either defect or excess with regard to the several virtues on the other. Imprimatur.
