Subtitled The New UFO Battle of the Scientists, this will be a must for defenders of the faith or the ""credible people (who) are seeing incredible things"" (General Samford of the Air Force). The book is almost totally comprised of transcripts from the July 29, 1968 Congressional Hearing Before the House Committee on Science and Astronautics. Those testifying included Dr. J. Allen Hynek, head of the Department of Astronomy, Northwestern University; Dr. James E. McDonald, senior physicist, the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, the University of Arizona; Dr. Carl Sagan, Department of Astronomy and Center for Radiophysics and Space Research, Cornell University, among others with similarly impressive credentials. The hearing was in direct rebuttal to the findings of the Colorado Condon report which recommended that research into the UFO phenomena be dropped because of lack of evidence. The statistics, hypotheses and summations presented by these men offer a considered argument for the continuation of investigations. Can we afford to ignore astronaut sightings, ""hardware"" even if it consists of mere fragments, and the fact that we have may have limitless possibilities for neighbors (earth is in the ""west boondocks"" of our galaxy). Mr. Fuller includes other reports pro and con as well as brief annotations about the proceedings. Which certainly merit attention.
