KIRKUS REVIEW

An Irishman visits America -- and turns the same semi-humorous, semi-serious eye on us that he has turned in the past on European countries. Informal -- naive -- occasionally shrewd -- often amusing -- the makes his way by bus and train and car, with occasional tramps afoot, from New Orleans to New York. Not a travel book -- nor yet a social commentary. But good reading, of its kind.
