BEHIND THE CURTAIN

I can think of no foreign correspondent who could better provide youth with an inside view of Europe behind the curtain than Gunther. Despite the problems of repeat performance on the part of the Soviet, Gunther manages to leave a sharply etched individual impression of the countries of which he writes, -- Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland- and less directly, Albania, Rumania, Bulgaria. He gives the feel of countries, people, leaders.
