GETTING TO KNOW POLAND

Poland, in the last years, has occupied an anomalous position among the Soviet satellites. Despite its loyalty to the Soviet, it maintains a strong sense of its own identity . This text describes, in simple, and not always compelling terms, the complex history of Poland, modern and past, its geography, customs, and educational system. Criticism is levelled on the totalitarian nature of the government, but every effort at objectivity is made. Primarily recommended as supplementary class room reading.
