BROTHERS AND LOVERS

A book for a selective audience -- a delicate handling of a tenuous theme, that wrongly handled might be unwholesome and suggestive. An emotional situation between brothers results in the younger brother taking over the responsibilities and claims of the elder, when an accident puts an end to his life. And out of this sacrifice to the ideal of his love, grows new emphasis, a new focus of life, and eventually love for the girl he had married to give his brother's child a name. There is an underlying thread of realistic disillusion and bitterness which creates a sense of unrest. Well done, this novel will appeal to the discriminating reader, though not to a very wide public.
