COLLECT, PRINT AND PAINT FROM NATURE by John Hawkinson

COLLECT, PRINT AND PAINT FROM NATURE

The first part of the book is clear and interesting; the author slowly guides young dabblers in the arts of printing--spatter and regular, and painting with water colors. The inartistic will be able to handle the printing, but may lose their instructor when he progresses to paints. He describes various strokes systematically, however, and the more diligent will keep on. Toward the end, he leaves his struggling student, and goes off on his own to swamplands, pine forests, river banks, etc., and paints more freely. Here the students will only be able to look on with admiration. This will make an interesting guide for teachers.
