THE NATURE DICTIONARY

Pictures of animals, birds, insects and plants with a chatty descriptive text should make this fun to browse through -- too bad the illustrations by Samuel Nisenson are very badly reproduced and the colors muddy and dull. A great variety of material is covered with common and rare animals and plants listed alphabetically --rdvard to zebu, acacia to zinnia, albatross to yellowbird, barnacles to weakfish, cockroaches to termites. Also sections dealing with insects and plants ""to be avoided"" and a glossary of biological terms. It is unfortunate that the illustrations nullify much of the possible value of the book.
