CHARITY OF THE STARS

First publication in this country of the verse of a young English poet who has already published several volumes in England. This little book shows a rich and academically well-trained talent, which lacks something in focus and intensity. Words come easily -- as do matrical forms, the sonnet, the sestina, melodious blank verse, ballad. There is color and texture. Perhaps his youth accounts for the lacks one feels, but he shows talent and his growth will be worth watching. For the poet market chiefly.
