GREEK COINS

Publisher: Abrams

A wealth of Greek coins, which were minted throughout the Greek world, extending from Asia Minor to Spain in seven major areas, is presented with an eye to aesthetic, archaeological, historico-political-economic values. The reproductions are two to five times larger than life so that the sculptural effect may be enjoyed. 240 plates show over 800 individual coins, for the most part both sides. The photographs are by Professor Max Hirmer, a long-time connoisseur; the introductory text by Dr. Colin M. Kraay, of the Heberden Coin Room of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
