KIRKUS REVIEW

Floherty has done a good job in this extensive, lucid coverage of a vital subject. History, geography, exploration, the amazing system of distribution by pipe lines, tank ships fighting submarines to deliver their cargo, refineries, laboratories where new products are achieved (from plane needs to the cosmetic trade). There are, too, dramatic glimpses behind the scenes of the men who bring this about. Countless bits of interesting information are brought together in a book which will interest adults as well as high school readers.
