After a short chapter devoted to the history of journalism in the United States Floherty begins an interesting study of the many kinds of news publications from the small town weekly to the metropolitan newspaper. He chooses as an example of a big city newspaper, New York's World Telegram and Sun, the book is well written and solidly informative about the reporting of national and foreign affairs and the long process a story goes through from the moment the facts are gathered until it is set in cold type and reaches the reader.
