SENTRIES OF THE SEA

John Floherty can make any subject he selects interesting reading and I confess that I was skeptical when it came to a sizable volume on lighthouses, buoys, fog horns, lightships, and so on. But he has done it again, and with not too much aid from anecdotes. In fact, I could have wished for a few more, because the ones he included, deliberately chosen to illustrate various facets of life and adventures and value to shipping, were an fascinating. There is almost no facet of the subject untouched (except the war aspects). From 12 up.
