KIRKUS REVIEW

Love at First Flight and Spin In Dumbwhacks have beaten this to the post in information about aviation training, semi-humorous in treatment. This (like Spin In Dumbwhacks) is Army. The author left school to enlist, following Pearl Harbor. Here are full details of each step of training, San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center, with Classification and Preflight instruction, then to Primary at Grider Field, Arkansas, to Basic at Bandolph Field, Advanced at Kelly, and bomber work at Tarrant. The author, in the tradition, does all the wrong things, so that he is the despair of his instructors. Doesn't quite get off the ground, despite the name, but is a solid coverage on all aspects of pilot training.
