SOME LIKE IT GORY

Rapid, wise-cracking argot in a collection of true crime stories, old and new. Not for those who follow Roughhead, Woolcott, etc., but for those who like casual collections casually recounted. The material is loosely classified -- bridge table murders, bluebeards, bathtub butchers, poisoned sweets, etc. Chapters such as ""lavender and old homicide"" have some interesting old cases; there are sideline specialties such as the ""minstrelsy of murder"", songs dealing with famous crimes, unsolved cases, 20th century crime detection devices, etc. Lowbrow entertainment for those who like their slaughter sanguine.
