KIRKUS REVIEW

Dr. Casteel, who is Professor of Practical Theology and Director of Field Work at Union Theological Seminary, New York has brought together in this book nine different reports for churches in the U.S. and Canada where the life of that church has been renewed and strengthened by small groups of laymen within it which came together almost spontaneously to discuss with utmost frankness their deepest spiritual problems, convictions and goals. The purpose of these groups says Dr. Casteel, ""is to help members come into a primary personal relationship with God, with other persons and with themselves"". This ""renewal movement"" is gaining ground in Great Britain and America; all Protestant clergy and earnest laymen will find these reports stimulating and challenging. They are written with humility, but are the more vital for it. They ""ring true"".
