KIRKUS REVIEW

The managing editor of Electronics magazine provides an admirably clear, well organized narrative that touches step by step on every aspect of the nature, history, uses and potentials of the very versatile laser (the ""coherent light beam""). Characterizing its development as the culmination of years of theorizing and experiment that have finally firmly linked light and electricity, he gives an especially informative survey of the many uses for it in war and peace that are now being explored by government and industry. A good example of fine writing about science and technology for the layman and interested high school student.
