This is the second part of the story of Dead Ned. The style still seems to date with the period of which the author writes, England was still in the slave trade, and the young doctor, snatched from death by his friends and rescued from the hanging to which he was condemned by the proved murder of his friend and benefactor. He was placed as doctor on a slaver; he made friends with the rascal of a captain and enemies of the first mate and his crowd. He tried to help in small measure to ease the miseries of the warriors sold as slaves. And he had a second escape from death when the ship was wrecked and the crew massacred by blacks. Soldier of fortune, his adventures multiplied, and eventually returned to England, his name cleared.
