The first months of the war saw a succession of handbooks for the selectee. Now there seem to be an almost equal number of books coming for the new officers. This little volume has one great advantage over the others, -- it is pocket size, light, compact in content as well as format, and wastes no space over trimmings. The newly commissioned young officer and the youth in training faces gaps in knowledge of procedure, of paper work, of etiquette, and so on, which this should help to fill. The information now scattered through manuals and official regulations is here summarized, and put in handy form for that transition period.
