KIRKUS REVIEW

John Richardson, a long time associate of Braque, writes a comprehensive introduction to the guiding philosophy of one of the most influential revolutionary painters of the last hundred years. The plates he has selected are representative of developmental levels and are reproduced in black and white as well as full color. An outstanding feature here is the frequent use of direct quotations from conversations and writings that caption many of these pictures and are scattered throughout the text. An excellent choice for both the art lover and the interested observer.
