A professor (Cal. Tech.) makes available the ""residuum of old classical education"" in one volume by briefing Greek contributions in many fields, and occasionally indicates how Greek culture is carried over today. Comprehensive, though necessarily restricting itself to high spots. The land, people, history, architecture, arts, letters, drama, sciences, government, economics, religion, even gardens and advertising. Closing pages retail the outstanding Greek myths. Presumably intended for students, it seems hardly detailed for anyone seriously interested in the subject, but should fill a gap in general knowledge for those pursuing the way of self-culture.
