This is an exhaustingly extortionate suspense story (Mr. Rossiter is a little more subdued when he writes as Jonathan Ross) comparable to those of Andrew York or their mutual progenitor. It takes place in a small South American sunspot where Roger Tallis tries to retrieve a million dollars for the Foreign Office and it's hard to distinguish between the metallic gleam of the cars and the women. Needless to say the blood flows like wine which in this case is brandy.
