GENERAL MANPOWER, INC.

The Idea's the Thing. A satirical glimpse into the world of 1959, with Elizabeth, Queen of England, Juliana, Queen of the Netherlands, an insane Hitler immured at Berchtesgaden with a dummy substitute and so on. In America, General Manpower is conceived, an organization of many hundred thousands, owning Lower California, housed and trained by the job lot, furnishing manpower en masse. The director seeks to use them for good -- but his Frankenstein turns on him, mutinies, plans conquest. Bloodshed -- defeat -- but too late. The government disbands the force. It is a difficult thing to sustain, and though amusing here and there, it is not quite successful. However, as a tour de force, it might catch hold, though it seems a long chance.
