Ten years ago, Dr. Bonnell, as minister of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City, discussed the health-giving effects of the power of God's love on distraught lives. This book concentrates upon the healing of physical and mental illness through prayer, the deliberate outreaching toward God and a desire to communicate with Him. Dr. Bonnell gives many instances of the evidence of the unifying of mind, body and spirit, a blessing of ""wholeness,"" which has come to those who have been able, through spiritual help, to rest upon the ""Everlasting Arms."" He quotes Tillich: "". . . faith means being grasped by a power that is greater than we are. . . Surrender to this power. . . "" Through case histories and a study of Christ's healing, Dr. Bonnell urges an active awareness of God, a reliance. Although even the well-churched these days tend to discount stories of ""miraculous healings,"" Dr. Bonnell's central message -- the search for ""wholeness"" through faith compels, and to those attuned to the polished assurances of clergymen whose faith seems to have weathered doubt -- offers a certain aid and comfort.
