The author of last year's beguiling The Magic Currant Bun with another pat charmer, about three cronies in old England and a hair raising treasure hunt. The tail-less cat, the one-eyed dog and the dwarf, meet by chance at a wayside inn. They set out together to hunt their fortunes- the real way. First they find an old iron chest on the road. Then they are pursued by thieves and the King's Men, to become enbroiled in a scandal that eventually provides riches for them all. Again Andre Francois' red and black drawings, with their tickling combination of studied awkwardness and nonchalance.
