Avoid the influence of wives and/or girlfriends, designer tags, sales clerks and your background (can you?) and follow America's first wardrobe engineer up the executive echelons where clothes not only make the man but might make you governor of a state. If not, you'll earn more money and your secretaries will work harder for you. You'll also wear a beige (not black) raincoat, a custom or semi-custom suit cum vest--possibly pinstriped, a cotton (the best) shirt, a silk (the best) tie, and a V-necked undershirt. Mr. Molloy also suggests that if you're black selling to whites, there should be nothing ethnic in your attire while if you're selling to Jews, you should never wear brown (older Jews apparently dislike beige). He also is very big on urban redeveloping Fifth Avenue since he insists this is the place to have your prestige office (we thought of Madison, or Park) but his book is intended for the man who doesn't know anything to begin with and if you send him an additional $15.00 check written with a Parker pen, of course not a Bic, he'll help you to ""become your own product"" even if that seems to be a distinguished nothing. No doubt you'll see him on some talk show in not so living Color, grey or dark blue, creating demand for these well-dressed mandates.
