KIRKUS REVIEW

The latest volume in the Compact History series is a swift chronology of the Indian encounters with white settlers from colonial days to the present. The record of constant pillaging of tribal lands carried on by the conquerors of the continent is a shameful history of treaties broken and victories without honor. Mr. Tebbel champions the Indian cause and his last entry shows that the American government is still operating against its ""wards"" with words--Indian reservations are being seized by the declaration that the tribes cease to exist.
