The London Times Literary Supplement editor and author of The Theatre of ertolt Brecht has selected, annotated and translated Brecht's ""notes and theoretical writing"", arranged them chronologically to show the emergence of his personal aesthetic. Brecht writes on all aspects of the theatre as well (acting, stage design, music), comments on the social and scientific changes of the 20th century which he attempted to reflect in his plays, and his ""revolutionary philosophy"" as expressed in A Short Organum for the Theatre now included.
