KIRKUS REVIEW

David Fletcher, a killer or ""the big hitter to end all hitters"" -- Fletcher who growls, snaps, snarls and does everything but spit -- is up against more than Gawne (not quite dead and. . .) in his wheelchair -- Gawne who made him what he was, a ""secret,"" ""very polished"" (how's that again) killer. Or did he? This reflects the underworld we once knew and it's for the man who likes them adamantine, even if he wouldn't recognize the word.
