KIRKUS REVIEW

Pictorial and narrative nostalgia in this sketchbook of the inhabitants and their life in Duok Trap Cove, Maine, in the years before the ""gas buggies came"". A very old fashioned flavor in the quality of the drawings, in the type of episodes illustrated. There are conversations, yarns, incidents, and aspects of work, social occasions, occupations, characters, etc., each with their picture. Unhurried pattern of the time and way of life, of isolated self sufficiency in the world as it was.
