EVER GO TO SEA

This is the fourth installment of Mr. Winton's Royal Navy comedy featuring Commander Robert Bollinger Badger, otherwise known as The Artful Bodger. Consistently amusing, The Bodger's muddling-through activities center around his new position as Assistant Director of Naval Public Relations at the Ministry of Political Warfare. The Bodger revamps the navy's recruiting advertising so successfully that a roar of complaints settles around him. In a Wren ad (""I Dreamed I Stopped Traffic In My Wren's Uniform"") a girl wearing only a Wren hat causes havoc in Piccadilly Circus but gives a big boost to recruiting. The Bodger decides to capture headlines by promoting a race-horse (Battlewagon, sired by Airborne out of a Hyperion mare) as the symbol of the Royal Navy and sets out to win the Epsom Derby. An utter dunce about horses, he's soon betting and winning left and right, and Battlewagon's 1 to 520 reversal of some giant-computed odds is a drastic surprise... A pleasant comedy continuity.
