Live an additional 20 years? The thought may appall rather than charm, but that's the goal of the Longevity Foundations 2100 Project. Eat and exercise as they suggest and you can live as long as the hypothetical baby born in that year. It may sound like science fiction to you, but their object is to prevent or at least slow down degenerative diseases (diabetes, atherosclerosis, heart ailments, hypertension and gout). The diet will make your middle years taste flat since sugar, fats and all cholesterol foods are outlawed entirely, along with coffee, tea and salt. (They go to great lengths to prove you will get the very minimal amounts you need from fruits and vegetables.) The exercise program comes down to a single word -- roving. Which is a jaunty way of saying walk or run a set distance four or five times a week. It's a bleak routine and the authors are quite humorless about their object all sublime, but they do tell you that ""You have to have a lot of strength to stay with the 2100 program."" Also to stay with the book.
