JosÉ was sooooooo poor that he had to take a radio repair correspondence course by proxy. But he was soooooo smart, he turned what he learned into a profitable business. And then he married and had kids. He began hypnotizing the kids to keep them quiet. He discovered that their homework was improving. Also, they developed esp while hypnotized, and could anticipate the questions he would ask about their schoolwork. Other people began giving him their kids to hypnotize. Their grades improved. Their eyesight improved. They could suddenly remember where they left their lunchboxes. JosÉ was on to something. But hypnosis made everybody too sluggish. So he switched to meditation. His knowledge of the way radios worked led him to the conclusion that the brain could be switched into Alpha the way you could turn the dial on a radio. JosÉ was in business again. He developed a three-day course to show people how to meditate their way into Alpha so they could control their own minds. People reported extraordinary resuits. Silva was getting rich. A few years ago, Silva Mind Control was The Thing to sign up for. You don't hear so much about it any more, and the logical inference is that Silva was getting nervous about his income, and decided to stir up some renewed interest with this--the definitive work on Silva-type meditation, a how-to guaranteed to raise your self-esteem, memory capacity, ability to break bad habits, improve your sex life, capacity for psychic healing--the usual stuff. With what is purported to be scientific data from psychiatrists and eeg experts to back up his claims, and (of course) a healthy sales pitch, including agenda, for the course. Still scary, but passÉ.
