KIRKUS REVIEW

The fishing fleet in the danger zone off the Banks is target for submarine activities, even before Pearl Harbor; after December 7th, the Navy takes a more active hand, and 18-year old Jim Ellis, youthful captain of the vessel his uncle had left him, is secretly inducted into Naval Intelligence, while his ship is used as a decoy with the fishing fleet. Good adventure, with no touch of romance; plenty of action, German spies at al, a mild shadow of Captains Courageous in today's setting. Good plus sale for older boys.
