Fadeout, a first in more ways than one, deals with the death-disappearance of Fox Olson, a folk singer who after years of failure now has a ""future like Disneyland."" Everyone loved him, except his wife, and including his oldest friend who turns up after years and splits with him to a cheap seaside hippie joint. . . . An overstructured plot which has a definite leashed tension, still more unleashed homoeroticism, and which levels remarks at the straight society with a Mattachine gun.
