KIRKUS REVIEW

The purpose of this book is to examine the way in which love of power has been transformed into lust for power, to describe the consequences of that transformation, and to suggest how love of power may be restored to its proper place in the life of man. This leads the author into a discussion of modern man and his ways, a discussion which is frank, devastating and yet stimulating. The author's thesis is that only by the recovery of a vital religious faith will love of power be brought back to its rightful place. Professor Harcutunian has the gift of the trenchant phrase and the apt illustration, and, for this reason, as well as because of his penetrating analysis of the contemporary scene, his book should appeal to many ministers and to other religiously minded leaders of American thought.
