A fine introduction to the role the architect plays in our lives, our appreciation of man-made things. A good basic history of architectural styles for the layman; a sound analysis of the architect's role as artist, business man and scientist; a frank discussion of contemporary design that will enable the layman to understand more fully the purpose of functionalism in design and the part function plays in the form of a structure. Not a very extensive market, but a useful self-education book for those interested in design.
