KIRKUS REVIEW

A compilation of assorted basketball trivia along the lines of Famous Firsts in Baseball. Among the facts and feats recorded here are the first all-black team (Harlem Globetrotters, 1927); the first player to shoot a one-handed shot (Hank Luisetti of Stanford, 1936); the first seven-footer (Oklahoma A&M's Robert Kurland, 1942); the first NBA scoring leader (""Jumpin' Joe"" Fulks, 23.2 points per game in 1949); and the first MVP in the ABA (Connie Hawkins, 1967). The co-authors also include some concise mini-bios of Mikan, Cousy, Chamberlain, Red Auerbach and Rick Barry. Second-rate.
