DREAMS ARE YOUR TRUEST FRIENDS

A very slight, scattershot intrusion into the world of dreams with a generally Freudian cast. Dreams are benign, says Katz, even if they scare the bejesus out of you. Did you dream that a huge python swallowed your mother? That father and a lion faced each other down in a tree and father was killed? Did your little daughter dream that she had swallowed a cat? Katz never bothers with systematic exposition of dream language but he does tell you that swimming represents ""great sex"" and that flying indicates a striving for omnipotence. Besides the instant interpretations of the dreams of successful businessmen, fearful lovers and small children Katz analyzes the night reveries of artists and scientists--Niels Bohr, Kepler, Dylan Thomas, Maxim Corky and Marc Chagall (who dreams, not surprisingly, in glorious color). All of which sounds a good deal more intriguing than in fact it is.
