BENNY RABBIT AND THE OWL by Joseph Low

BENNY RABBIT AND THE OWL

Benny Rabbit's bedtime procrastination is just anxious enough to engage young readers' sympathy. Father is exasperated, but when Mother Rabbit asks at last, ""Is something bothering you, Benny?""--and the little rabbit admits that yes, there's a scary owl in his closet, Father recognizes that ""that is enough to scare anybody."" And then, urging Benny to come with him to the closet, Father shows him that the Owl is just a frightened little lost one who only wants to be fed a carrot and guided out to the woods toward home. It might not work for everyone's nightmare, but Father Rabbit is most convincing.
