For the advanced student of psycho-military strategy, primarily, is this discussion of issues in the Pacific area of conflict. Since there is no precedent for defeating the Japanese, this is an examination of the factors presented by both Allies and enemy; -- strength and weakness, industrial and geographical background, the reasons for all possible actions. Underlining Japan's insular position, types of equipment, campaigns, offensives are considered, evaluated, discarded or recommended on the strength of military and psychological evidence. The importance of European versus Pacific warfare is weighed, with the conclusion that Hitler is Enemy Number One; and an all-out offensive of air, land, sea and amphibious arms, is indicated when requirements of such an engagement are met. There is warning not to let tensions, irritations, hatreds of war at such distances become inverted for release in social explosions at home. Not for the market of theoretical armchair strategists, but for the serious military students.
