THE PUPPY IN THE PET SHOP WINDOW

Pub Date: March 15th, 1961

This simple story of how a little girl and a puppy in a busy New York pet shop fall in love, is flawlessly rendered in words by Joseph Schrank and life-like illustrations in four colors by Meg Wohlberg. Although Little Girl had no money to purchase Puppy, their satisfying relationship flourished until one day Puppy disappeared from the shop window. Reluctantly now, Little Girl participates in the television quiz show which was to have earned her the money for Puppy, when to and behold, before millions of viewers, she is reunited with her nine love as Puppy is coincidentally presented to her as a consolation prize! Universal appeal exists throughout the story, but is especially captured in the names Puppy and Little Girl.
