AUNT BEARDIE by Joseph Shearing

Not as sensational a story as Shearing's BLANCHE FURY, but once again an old, and unusual crime, based on fact but set up in period decor. The scene alternates between France and England, the period that of the French Revolution and after. A daughter, deeply devoted to her mother, protects her from the past in the form of a man she had once known, now blackmailing her. To do so she resorts to murder. Well sustained suspense, but a bit flossy.
