Conundrums, palindromes, cryptograms, aptograms (""Washington crossing the Delaware"" becomes ""he saw his ragged Continentals row"") -- to unriddle, emulate, or flummox your friends. Some of the ""games"" are familiar from daily newspaper contests (how many words can you make from collegiate) and others are more like verbal IQ tests or English class exercises, but even the latter can enliven any class (try punctuating ""Frank where Henry had had had had had had had had had had had had the teacher's approval""*), and there are enough intriguing challenges mixed in for hours of competitive or solitaire puzzling. *Frank, where Henry had had ""had had,"" had had had had; ""had had"" had had the teacher's approval.
