Purely a book for the student, there's a consistent classroom tone to it, both in content and style. First, definition, identification, cultivation, use of microscope, etc.; next, microbes in relation to disease, with the histories of the men who contributed most to eliminating the big scourges (Koch, Pasteur, Lister, etc.).
