I have a hunch that the real significance of this story will appeal more to parents than to children, for it revolves around a mother who had such a bad memory that she forgot her baby in her determination to remember her marketing needs. What happens and how the baby finds a temporary home -- and is finally rescued by the milkman's horse does make a story children may enjoy. The pictures have a certain humor and simplicity which will serve as a ""come-along"" for beginning readers.
