In February a volume entitled Changing Asia, by E. E. Kisch appeared, and in its pages one read of the revolutionary changes taking place in Central Asia under the Soviet regime (see page 49). Now comes a much more thorough study of the same part of the world, a concentrated searching into the history, background, personnel, and procedure by which Central Asia has suffered a rebirth. An important book for the student of modern history; not difficult reading, though it is detailed and scholarly in approach, with frequent relief in human touches, in a reportorial note, in color and drama and deep appreciation of the exciting aspects of the remaking of a world.
