MOUNTAIN OF VILLAINY

Adda Tripp, an orphan, has her agonizings, at 28, over her interest in love, her lack of interest in work, and her desire, having learned all the rules, to break them. Raised in the image of her uncle Tosh, with choruses from her aunt Irene (a ""penis envying soul"") and her other uncle Mason whose wife ""Rebeker"" Adda rejects, she free-souls through school, jobs and finally settles for much older Olaf Solon whose proposition to live with him she accepts. She does not become his mistress at once for there are his friends to challenge -- and be challenged by their knowledge of his questionable past, and there is O himself to win -- and having done that, she is not mature enough to keep him. Faith in Tosh lost, Irene dead, it remains for Mason and ""Rebeker"" and her younger brother Nip to head Adda away from her determination to be a selfish non-conformist and to line herself up with better balance. A ""shit-spit"" psychosemantic approach to -- what many will see as only -- sheer exhibitionism.
