GRANDMOTHER LUCY IN HER GARDEN by Joyce Wood

GRANDMOTHER LUCY IN HER GARDEN

On the first day of spring the little gift and her Grandmother Lucy--sometimes accompanied by Tom the cat--visit the pond, plant roses, gather pussy willows, get some honey from the bee hive, watch for birds, and quietly enjoy the season. There's no plot, no poetry; just the simple telling of a pleasant day. Francis' childlike pictures glow benignly on cue, but they're a bit too cute and undifferentiated to give the story the lift it needs.
