A California Judge looks back over the domestic relations cases in which he mediated in a Conciliation Court where, after a short time, he worked out a Reconciliation Agreement which was successful about half the time. Certainly, in the cases personalized here, there are some very common conflicts-articulated, analyzed and resolved; whether it is the reluctance to permit a more mature love to replace the initial romantic excitement; sexual difficulties; jealousy; the other woman- or man; gambling or drinking; anger and abuse; money; children- or in-laws. All of these issues, involving husband v. wife, have an obvious human interest- and the Judge's handling of them is helpful- in many instances heartening- and perhaps for others prophylactic.
